Get a CO meter.

Get a CO alarm whatever you burn

Propane leaks are a big danger in a boat as it initially stays at the bottom and then deflagrates when it reaches a flame.

Also remember to remove the stack before low bridges

I wonder if it is the short chimney on the Morso Squirrel that makes it difficult to burn wood as cleanly as my s11 at home.

As keeping a fire in is essential on the boat in winter  it runs mostly on smokeless coal

A lot depends how the boat is used, if you have a mooring, cruise for a few days then go back to the mooring you don't need to carry a lot of coal with you. On the other hand if you are a continues cruiser everything you need has to be taken onboard, coal along with solar panels, pushbike, the flue, vent mushrooms will all be stored on the roof, if you are single handed you've got to get up on the roof to get access the lock ladders. All that on frosty morning, (the time of year when you don't want to be ending up in the cut).

I am living on a Narrowboat at the moment.

I had my central heating disconnected and now only use my Aarrow wood burner .

Works for me ......

Why did you have the central heating disconnected, was it running of a Califior (sp)?
