Any one using a hushpower shotgun

Just got me a 12b with fully moderated barrel by hush power - now my dilemma is that there is conflicting info on the WWW as to whether to use fiber or plastic wads, some say that the plastic wads can become lodged to the baffles of the moderator. But as I have just bought a couple of slabs of plastic wad cartridges I do not want to have to shell out for a different slab if I can use what I have with no ill effects

As long as you can evidence have and still use non lethal methods and that the crop is covered under the description within the license..... But who and how this will ever be policed defies me.

It's going to catch out the people who think you can just shoot species on the General Licences without a reason. It was surprising to see how many people thought you could shoot something just because you wanted to when it all kicked off.

Mine is a .410 . I tried it out on a pattern plate and it had an angled oval pattern . Discovered it was the burrs from drilling muzzle brakes  through the barrel into the moderator tube  . It is well worth removing the tube and filing the burrs off . This makes it better with a plastic wad but crucially sorts the pattern out .

I follow the instructions from Hushpower: http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/Gunroom/hushpower/Hushpower Maintenance and Cleaning.pdf

The Hushpower range can be shot with any cartridges suitable for the chamber length of each model, BUT for maximum noise reduction and safety we recommend FELT wad, subsonic cartridges. If you have to use plastic wadded cartridges, be extra vigilant about ensuring the barrel is clear after each shot.

I use felt wads in my .410 mostly as it takes ages for the gasses to clear to check the barrel is clear after a shot.

Having said that, some felt wads still use a plastic obturator.
