Ideas wanted to make a trommel screen

Hiring in must be a better bet surely? Doesn't @dig-dug-dan have a view on this

 

Anyway I was looking at something to classify arb woodchip so I could use it in my pellet stove (before I took it out, it sits in shed with Jotul 602 currently) and I too had plumped on @dumper's idea of using a cement mixer, I have a Belle minimix (which is probably not up to loading with your Gehl).

 

The drum is replacebale so I was going to cut that out so it passed the big stuff onto the floor. I had used http://www.anglering.com/ to roll be some rings before and was going to make a cylinder with perforated steel plate attached to the drum  and rest the open end on two opposed wheel barrow wheels.

Definately screen it first.  It makes crushing quicker, you get a cleaner product, and its less wear on the crusher jaw plates.

Thanks. I think hire for a day is the best approach for the small amount we need sorting. 

 

The Avant one would be nice if I had loads of work for it but I can only imagine the price. Neither trommel or Avant are ever followed up by the words bargain.
