theres as chap near me selling bulk bags @ £70 a go, i think £60 tops realy for roughly a 3,rd of a ton of logs :001_smile:

My bulk bags hold half a level transit load easily.

Things are very slow 4 me,but im taking over from my father after his accident last year.Someone in the village has been telling folk that he had retired to take custom away which has not helped.:angryfire:

Ive got plenty unseasoned for next year and may buy 150 tonne more as well as web site to buy online.

But on the whole cant complain!(apart from mr pike selling 4 £30 a bulk bag!)

don't be downhearted - gonna get very cold start of next week :thumbup1:

we have been doing ok - and got quite a few good new customers - most word of mouth

i think at the end of the day - if you give a good product at the right price with the right service - you shouldn't lose any customers (unless they move :001_huh:) and you stand a great chance of increasing your client base

we only do local stuff - to end buyer, not trade - and i have been quite busy with deliveries

if any of you are punting types - it might pay to have a bet on a white xmas this year - the long range weather charts that i habve looked at - indicate a prolonged cold spell with wintery showers :001_smile:

i have already cleared next week of jobs - just for log deliveries

Doing ok here in cheshire!! Am getting close to emptying my dry seasoned log store. Have the same amount again, but only 3 months dry. However, they ARE dry and will burn. Do a burn test at home on these and the product is dry. ALWAYS tell your customer what they are getting and you cannot go wrong. Have a waiting list at mo. Merry Christmas logs!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you moisture tested them or do you just THINK they are dry. Most wood will burn even when unseasoned but it doesn't mean it is dry, it will just take longer to burn and give out less heat! I dont sell any wood unless its under 30% max and preferably under 20%. If any callers say they will get back to me when phoning, I tell them that if they want to ring anyone else thats fine but ask them to bring their moisture meter when they deliver, coz I have no problem with bringing mine. Am selling at £70/cubic metre and things are steady but this is my first year. Already had over 10 repeat orders.

No I haven't but if you split a log and test it immediately its the moisture content of the middle of the log that you are getting. I always carry my axe in my truck anyway so if anyone wants to see a test done thats what i do and I regularly offer the service when delivering.
