I don’t cut much over 10’ these days.
However if you can move and store longer pieces it’s betteremoji106.png

Thanks for the advice. Well I can move them and store them, but its pretty heavy handballing them onto the trailer and off again. However if they will sell at that length, then I shall keep em as long as I can.

And half again. [emoji3] The amount of enquiries I get for 1m lengths for hobby projects is unreal. And as its such a short piece its obviously going to be virtually free, in their minds of course.

I only sell whole boards.
If you want 1m you’ll have to buy the whole thing.
Otherwise it’s madness.

Yeh me to. I tell them as much as well. The only time I have 1m sections is after Ive cut off what I need for my own projects but I'll be damned if Im selling them to the folk who think its left over scraps. Id sooner make kindling out of it.

interesting.

Can you give me an idea of what you or others might sell a 10’ board of spalted beech or oak for? Say 2.5’ wide and 50mm thick?

Saul would be the best man for prices.

But for Oak I sell Green at £4 a board foot. Semi-seasoned/seasoned at £6 a board foot and nicely figured at £8 a board foot.

Spalted Beech I really dont know. Ive got some cracking slabs that have now spalted and 4 years air dried. I was not really a  fan of Beech but I was very happy with how it came out in the wee Rocking Horse I built so will use it for more projects now. I dont think its as desirable as Oak and Elm.

You never said if the slabs are seasoned or green. Id assume you mean green? There's a man here would would most likley buy them off you but Id say they are worth maybe 1/3 less than Oak?

But Sauls your man to get a more definitive answer.

Green £100 wholesale
Air dried at 20% mc £175
Kiln dried at 8% mc £200-£300
This is all dependant on decent character.
All prices are a vague guide.
