Today's milling

Nice work Saul.
I know you’ve mentioned the F2+ and building a wooden bench to take larger logs. The F2+ is quoted as taking 1200kg. Have you found this to be too much? I understand the initial loading of a large log on to the wooden frame but once a large log is on are you saying it will then be able to lift it up as normal? I know it says it will cut up to 70cm but I guess for example an oak log that wide and 2.8m long would exceed that. I saw the ladder idea for shorter logs you put in a video, like that [emoji1303]
Just curious really I am still waiting on my order but hopefully by end of January.
Are you getting the ES8 on test I can’t remember? Cheers. Stuart.

Hi Stuart,
Good question.
The biggest log we tested weighed at least 1.5 tons.
We milled the log as it sat on the table in about half.
After pushing the top half off, I tried winding one side up, but it snapped the cable.
Also one of the little plastic wheels on the pulleys crumbled under strain.
The other side was fine though.
I replaced the cable with several different types of paracord, none worked at all.
Got new stuff off Logosol.
However in the meantime we had to chock one end up and used a car jack to lift.

If you’re even thinking of going large, I would strongly recommend building a table and a log bed.
The shock of loading or turning is quite surprising.
Also having a log bed at the same height really helps loading if you’ve not got hydraulics to load.

I don't know about that, What I do know is renting a small shed/yard like that around here would cost a fortune, if you could find one.

Seems similar all over?

I have no doubt about that but fortunately i am not in that position. The size of that one roughy uses at the moment is not exactly small either.

I thought I’d pop this in here. It’s not today’s milling, it’s today’s sanding 😬.

I’ve been planning, till the brushes wore out. Then sanding with 60g  still a long way to go, but as I was almost finished for the day I thought, best get some more inspiration to continue the Labourious task of sanding 😩

A dry pic then wetted with water.

👍😉
