Is that in Huddersfield? There used to be loads of good sized elms on the Halifax road when I first moved up here, between the town centre and Ainley top. 
 
dismantled hundreds in Calderdale in the early nineties (many of which were burred), all of which went for firewood.[emoji20]


It’s all your fault there is none left then. Lol

certainly looks it but as they are not common at that size i don't have much to reference.

The wood is pale yellow-brown with a deeper brown heartwood. It is strong, hard and tough, but not particularly durable. It is sometimes used in turnery, furniture, craftwork and engraving.

It's not heartwood me thinks.
The growth rings went in and out of the coloured centre.

After lunch the Sitka arrived for the log bed, and we went to collect some monkey puzzle and some more small Elm.
