Following on from the other Oak Slabbing thread.  Did not wanna hijack it. 

 

Will have a few more to do this winter, maybe even bigger. Will need a new Mill and Bar I think.

Not my timber, I just helped out with the job. It'll be drying for a couple of years yet I would have thought. 

 

The slabs from the bottom of the tree were all solid and really beautiful though. Surprisingly no metal in it either!

 

I usually do about 4/5 days with the Lucas mill a month, its a great machine. Wish I'd bought the bigger one now!

Some mighty nice slabs there, but I have nothing but sheer admiration for guys like you using chainsaw units, with the vibes noise and fumes ,plus aching limbs. Well done.

What other option is there for slabs that wide? I think a Lucas Mill will slab up to 1.2m but any wider than that and you need an Alaskan. 

 

I find with a winch you keep you’re head out the fumes and it’s not so back breaking. But you still get a sweat on right enough. ?
