Anyone here using a CAT scanner?

What make/model? Pros and cons...

Thinking of getting one for fencing and stump grinding purposes.

I think my insurance actually requires me to use one!

Thanks

Dan

I don't use one any more  but we had CScope ones.

They do have to be sent away for a calibration check once a year IIRC.

A cat is not much use without a genny and neither are any use unless you know how to use one. They can do far more than just detect electricity cables . Dont forget the squeeze offs :)

Quite right b0D. I'm not having a pop at the OP but I'm sure some folk think it's like waving a metal detector around on the beach. @Matthew Storrs was booked onto the one day course a little while back. How did you get on Matthew?

Can be Chris, a lot of MDPE mains have a tracer wire ialongside them these days so they can be traced using the genny, the genny will also sound through water in a main. Warning tapes can also have the tracer wire in them so they can be detected. Mains that are not live can also be detected with the genny through the swa, Drains and sewers can detected if a cheap roll of cable is taped to a fibreglass cable pulling roll and stuffed down them. Depth and position can also be accurately determined if you take your time to learn how to use them, the list goes on but they are a lot more than just a cable detector.

Service marker tapes with tracer wires https://gasproducts.co.uk/caution-buried-gas-main-detectable-underground-marker-tape.html

MDPE tracer wires   https://store.jdpipes.co.uk/blue-tracer-wire/

Strap a cable to one of these and shove it down any drains or pipes that need locating.
