It was obvious at once that he was a goblin. I’d never seen one, of course. They weren’t supposed to be real, but what other creature is greeny-brown, pointy-eared and knobbly-fingered, barely taller than my knee? I watched, amazed, as he hopped up on the stack of wood, dragged a single log off the top, and headed off back into the snow, dragging his spoils behind him.

With a big landowner you are never going to get the nod to pinch a few wind blown sticks.

Stick to local small landowners like farmers so you can ask them then no-one gets upset and the police are left to collect statistics on real crooks.

Now now; stop picking on easy targets. They don't just compile statistics they also make lots of meaningless statements to the press about what they've been made aware of and what they believe to have happened and how they are looking forward to completing the journey with, and are proud to be part of, their new partnerships; and the reports too, hundred page reports they do, can't be easy: who'd be a copper huh?
