New Oregon EXL Chain - game changer?

Good stats - let us know when you have the vids posted and I'll refund the order.

Changed phone and lost the videos but still very happy with the newer chain. Definitely holds tension and sharpness better than the old stuff even though they're sharpened identically.

I can get a full day's use out of one chain with only 1 tension up (as long as I don't do anything silly with a small log) and that's really all I can ask of them.

Harder to see the difference on a standard saw though I feel.

I've been bashing the Oregon chain 75EXL for a while now.
After initial stretching they are fine.
It does keep its edge a bit longer I've found.
Not a game changer, but a decent chain from Oregon

Old topic but may as well revive it rather than make a new one. 
 

I’m down to my last few 24 inch chains and I’ve been using EXL. On my Huskys. 
 

Absolute nightmare on the first sharpen, ruins files. Can go through 1-2 files on the first sharpen and after that it is fine. 
 

Anybody else have the same bother?

 

I am thinking of getting LPX if I can get it next time. 
 

EXL seems to be dull out the box anyways, it’s painful to work with

I tried all both Oregon TXL and EXL side by side with the Husqvarna X-Cut equivalents, matching saws/guidebars etc, although the Oregon looks pretty, the Husqvarna chains where far superior.

Got a few EXL, not noticed them being hard to file but maybe a bit grabby new. What files are you using?

Tried Vallorbe. Oregon. Husky. They’ve too much metal almost like a step in the cutter that you need to file away.

Don't you sharpen them on a grinder then Jake
