Hedge cutting pricing.

You'd have to be seriously more efficient to make up for any significant under-pricing though. Hedges take as long as they take, I haven't found many ways to do them more efficiently and have reached the stage of explaining to some customers that they'd be paying arb rates for a job that could be done by a decent gardener/landscaper.

At least that way, the owner doesn't think they're getting ripped off if they get a price off of next doors gardener which is half ours. Horses for courses.

Often you’ll rock up to price some hedges that are well shaped and look to have been cut well and regularly in the past.
I immediately say I can see they’ve been well looked after, who normally does them for you?
If they say it’s ‘old Bob the gardener down the village but his knees have gone’ I know works for an ounce of shag and half a gallon of petrol, I explain we can never compete with him, and often the customer is agreeable to paying tree money on hedgework.

From what you've described I'd like to think it would be 1 day for 4 of us. 3 cutting, 1 either side and one on the top. Once the side cutters have finished one can help the top cutter and one can help the apprentice rake up and blow.

8.30-4 ish. Couple shortish breaks. £650-700 ish.

Crikey, that’s detailed! What if one of the guys fell down a hole, in the fog, with an owl! It happens..where would you be then eh?

Time for bed I reckon

Sort of relevant but I just wanted to use this meme.

If you google "How to under price a  job" Wiki quotes "Try cutting a conifer hedge for starters".

There are only two people who in the history of gardening, landscaping and arb work havent cocked on a hedge job, one bloke who hasnt priced that many jobs and another who works for peanuts.

Lots of good advice but this sounds like the best

"If you’re pricing against other people on jobs like this it will go to the company who fucks up most.

I’d go high and make sure it’s not you." Bolam 31-08-2018:20:33
