Anyone read "the wasp factory" by Iain banks?

Was the first Iain Banks book I read.  Thanks to that, I've got a shelf full of his stuff.

I think that 'Stonemouth' is the best of his fiction.  He only wrote fiction in the first place to finance his sci-fi writing.  'The State of the Art', is an amazing book.  If you're into that kind of thing.

I spent most of last week reducing 12 sycamores, a fair few nests in the garage roofs underneath, couldn’t be more grateful, rather the occasional sting over a mouthful of green flies

Are there still greenflies on sycamore at this time of year? I almost never work on them now, but thought they’d mostly disappeared by August.

Probably misremembered of course.
