No idea how bylaws work. Be Interested to hear more about them. Seems a shame if things like camping, rights of way/byways are being eroded further.

Been racking my brains for somewhere to get out and camp by a river/lake/sea with the family in this heat. Not many options unless you like caravan parks.

Scotland have got a pretty healthy attitude to land access and right to camp etc

Any place that looks sensible to park up for the night is usually fine. Providing your not making a nuisance of yourself and take away your rubbish.

Probably a good idea to have someone sober to drive just incase you do get moved on.

I never stay sober! Once I was in Galloway forest, found a great spot, had a good drink, put the fly screens across the windows and fell asleep. Awoke to find the van infested with midges despite the screens. Took the chance and drove out to sleep in a lay-by

1 option I used to use quite a bit in the Sprinter (internal conversion to camper) and current Transit custom with no more than an air bed was to find a decent looking pub, pop in, talk to Guv’nor, say I want to have a few beers, OK if I kip in the van and shove off after a coffee in the morning. It’s an option but may not suit your needs. If that doesn’t fit the bill, just drive, find a spot, park, get your head down. Quiet spots don’t tend to have busybodies (otherwise they wouldn’t be quiet spots!).

Just go go for it!!

Which is fine. The problem comes when folk decide they are going to pull into popular places and park on the seafront...... in front of someone who's paid a fortune for a house with a sea view. I've seen it, and the reaction to it on the inland waterways, folk who need/want to be in the honey spots, near shops, bus routes, train stations. These people feck it up for the rest of us. On the inland waterways there are places with 48 hour moorings because of theses selfish twats.
