60 litres according to this. But plastic can size limited to 10 litres and metal cans 20 litres both types fit for purpose of course

https://www.jerrycans.co.uk/blog/are-jerry-cans-legal-what-is-the-law-on-fuel-cans

Very informative link,  I did know about the two can/10lts rule at some filling stations.

And Asda at Brighton marina has a 2 can rule, that is broken every sunny day, boat owners just want fuel,

cheers.

...wot ever you can get away with ! ..Anyway - looking at that link reminded me why they are 'jerricans' . When the British Army entered the Western desert war in 1940 ( see the old can in that post ) they used those flimsy tin things ( abt 2 gallon ) but soon found shrapnel and bumping around split them , so Tommies always looked out for 'Jerry cans ' to pinch - its accepted that more petrol was lost in transit in the first six months of that campaign -than ended up in the trucks and tanks of the Desert Rats . One of those gypsy tarts just came up to me in the garage up the road and asked for a fiver so she could take her sick aunt who has "dimension " to the hospital. :)
