Well at 10 squid a tonne fr pulp that's 800 squid an 40 squid a tonne fr saw logs thats 3200 squids, a day - which is last price I had fr proper forestry work. I think J is ahead on this operation. K

£40 a tonne what for sawlogs? If you were to break the figures down the daily average for 7 days is 54t/day roadside based on the figures provided.i.e 380t roadside stock. The money is never earned until stock is roadside.

Not sure what your £40t sawlogs figure relates to ?

we have been getting £58 tonne for spruce sawlogs R/S 450mm >200mm and with Js timber being DF he should be on a bit more than £58 tonne , chip/pulp wood is £45 tonne R/S, cant say anymore,

That's going back some ESS, but ours was 10 tonne Valtra forwarder an was stuck more times than a load got roadside. 40 squid was fr 5.2m dead straight 16cm tops.An 2.2m  Pulp logs back  then. I know usage n prices have dramatically changed but if J gets that rate out of the woods he ain't got moss on his cab K

...but the timber is to buy.

Which am sure is a secret agreement between J and landowner, performance wise that kit of his is moving trees well, most forestry like tree surgery fails on poor planning n poor crews, n inefficient gear, which is why I started thinking on ways of getting tree work accomplished with low impact methods, like Skyline, more for managing under utilised woodland than profit. But he is showing there is money in this. K

Its what I do every day, and have done for many years,

The company I am with now run around £2m of forestry kit alone. Believe me I am constantly looking at costs.

If you were to break the figures down it works out at 54t roadside  a day average, but surely this is 2 machines costed in ?
