My splicing attempts

Heres a couple of pics of a soft-eye pulley saver I just knocked up. I used to make them with hose over the outside of the eye but lately have been using rubber bungee cord like whats used for the big-shot and it works a treat - retrieves every time and no chance of unseen wear inside the rope like when wire rope is used as a stiffener.

Where do you get the bungee cord from mate?

Hey mate, I am in Australia so not much help to you but I get it from 'Clark Rubber'. They are a wholesale rubber supplier and you can buy the bungee cord off a roll by the meter.

The stuff I use is about 10-12mm thick and is a bitch to insert into the rope.

Really nice idea with the rubber inner mate. Been looking for something similar my self to use. Not found anything yet although I do get distracted easily on the Internet?! Haha.

As far as wear goes with the wire insert,I used one of mine for well over a year and then dissected it. No wear inside from the wire at all. The stuff i use is 5mm with a plastic coating round it.

try nitrile, the stuff they make o rings from, little memory, uber stiff yet flexible. And as its solid can be tapered nicely!

My sneaking suspicion it might be what the pulleysaver uses but I won't cut mine open....

have a look

If you know anyone who uses big oring i.e plant fitter that may be a good point of call for free bit
