Winch slings

Hi All

 

I've recently brought a tirfor style winch and I need some slings for it.

 

However I am led to believe there are two different types of slings. Ones for pulling and ones for lifting.

 

I've had a look about and it seams all the big arb stockists only stock lifting ones and the only pulling ones i can find are 2ton of less which are used for vehicle recovery.

 

Does anyone know where I could get suitable winch slings from?? or am i barking up the wrong tree??

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just use normal endless slings, normally yellow 3t ones, or whatever is in the truck. What size winch you bought,1.6t?

If a sling will lift 5 tons it'll pull 5 tons.   For a selection and a good seller have a look at slings1 on ebay.  I use ones with a loop at each end for winch work (stumps, leaning trees etc).

Slings1 on ebay is on Sheepbridge industrial estate not far from here, they do winch straps, towing straps and lifting slings. Friend of mine has had slings and winch straps and they are good quality well made items.

We use the endless loop type slings.  Not sure whether they're described as lifting or not, but they work.

 

Remember how you attach the sling to the anchor will affect it's strength rating, either up or down.  Most slings I've ever bought have an accompanying diagram to show you the various configurations and effects on strength.
