  1. Hi All I've recently brought a tirfor style winch and I need some slings for it. However I am led to believe there are two different types of slings. Ones for pulling and ones for lifting. I've had a look about and it seams all the big arb stockists only stock lifting ones and the only pulling ones i can find are 2ton of less which are used for vehicle recovery. Does anyone know where I could get suitable winch slings from?? or am i barking up the wrong tree?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Dan
  2. I have a 261c I use with a 16inch bar and I love it nice and light with a fair amount of power. Early m tronic had problems with the fuel pins in the solanoid belive and some early 261s had problems with the clutch drum as already stated but I've used mine for just over a year with no problems. The 550 had problems with hot starting which I think was due to lack of ventilation around the cylinder and poor piston coatings effecting compression when hot but don't hold me to that. Chainsaws.

That's good advise . Id be tempted to go for 70cc if you are cutting hardwoods a majority of the time though. I love my 372xp

  5. I have an old 038 AVS in non running condition I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it didn't hold pressure on the bottom other than that and no bar and chain it's all there. I don't think it will be a viable repair but it could be stripped for parts. Anyone who wants it can have it just pay the postage and it's yours. Sent from my SM-G900F using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. That is a very good point about it being stolen, I haven't actually brought the saw yet it looks pretty legit but i am asking for receipts. Thanks Dan
  7. Thanks for the replys
  8. Hi I am looking at getting a second had MS362 which is registered in 2016. What im asking is does the warranty transfer over. Thanks in advance Dan
  9. Hi All Just to pick your brains here. Does anyone know where I could pick up some 5.2mm filing stones for a granberg? I have a 5.2 filing kit from stihl but its a massive chore sharpening a 30inch chain I have emailed chainsawbars.co.uk the place where I originally got the grinder from (very good service) and Im hoping he will be able to sort me out. Also if i cant what the next best option for powered sharpening?? Thanks in advance Dan
  10. That's the idea i'm getting seams to be no information anywhere. From what I can gather the software is called SDS (Stihl diagnosis software) and only dealers can get 6 month licences. Kinda puts me off mtronic as it limits who can service them and I would trust some non stihl dealers over the main dealers to work on my gear. But as you hinted its to put average joes off working on their own gear.
  11. Do this ^^ Id say you have some water ingress or a fault on the unit. Have a look and make sure all the connections are water tight and aren't full of water. RCDs work on imbalance and detect earth faults. MCBs detect shorts and over loads. As for the earth stake the impedance would get lower when it rains. Hope this helps
  12. Hi All I've been looking surfing the net trying to find any information on M-Tronic Software/Hardware. Does anyone know where I can get hold of the required software and hardware in order to communicate with the stihl saws?? Whether its genuine of third party. Thanks in advance Dan:001_smile:
  13. Thanks for the advise guys its much appreciated. Think ill just run it for a few jobs worse case scenario ill pull it apart again. I was just a little concerned that the crank might move as there is slightly more space in there now since they are not in there.
  14. Although not 100% chainsaw related they are very similar so i'm hoping someone on here can help. Recently rebuilt a spares and repairs K760 disk cutter and have forgotten to install the the two ''cups'' that go either side of the counter balance on the crankshaft. Basically what i'm asking is are these cups that important that I need to strip down the whole engine again or could i get away with leaving them out?? Thanks in advance Dan
  15. Ive just recently brought a 372xp and currently have pair of class 1 trousers I'm unsure if they will provide good enough protection for the new saw. What are people's feelings regarding this? Would I be best off up grading to a pair of class 2s?? Thanks in advance
