Leather chainsaw trousers

Has anyone added leather to saw trousers to stop them wearing out so easily? I’m thinking of doing the front of the thighs (resting saws, wood etc on your lap), hopefully to below the knee (kneeling down) and maybe some around the ankles (brambles and spiking yourself). Not sure about type and thickness of leather?
Any experience or thoughts?

Great idea, how you gonna attach the leather? Not supposed to stitch through the cut padding. What about just waring leather chaps over the trousers? Any way you do it's gonna be hot though.

My mother has a sewing machine and is entirely used to being given saw trousers to fix. I imagine she’d stitch into the existing inside and outside leg seams.

Chaps would be too much flappy clutter.

Welding / blacksmiths apron. Cost very little and are nice and flexible. You will need a hefty machine to sew it. Consider someone that fixes horse rugs / saddles to stitch it.
I always think trousers should have a tougher patch on the bottom of each outside leg. Always seem to snag there from the saw when on the harness.
