Having recently put up a thread re ID'ing some timber that turned out to (probably) be Styphnolobium (formerly Sophora) I don't think this fits; that tree's bark doesn't have the small horizontal lenticels that this thread's tree has.  Gleditsia's closer I reckon.

the bark is a bit unusual as i have only experience gleditsia as a more broken up and cracked surface but i have to agree that the leaves are a spot on match.

are there any pods on the tree or ground?

There's a Gleditsia like it round the corner near some bungalows. Does yours have any thorns and produce pods ?

From memory no thorns but I shall check later and get back to you on the pods.
