Just remember that an 8 pin will give faster chain speed in fresh air but might bog down on a small capacity standard saw . I have some , well all , ported saws one of which is my " legendary " 372 ported by spud . On a 24" bar it performs better with te standard 7 pin . On a shorter bar its a different story . You will sacrifice some torque for the extra chain speed .

Get a bigger saw.

A 261 will struggle with an 8tooth in hardwood over 10-12".

It's ok for softwood.

A 461 with 20" bar works well with an 8 tooth.

Personally I find an 8 tooth is great for cross cutting, but I use a 7 tooth for felling as it's slower and I have more control.

Check the chain speed and then have a look at your class 1 trouser protection chain speed limits.
