been offered a 200t with running issues

Hey folks a guy I occasionally work with has offered me his old 200t for £150, he explained its a pig to start and won't tick over. Its almost impossible to move the chain with the brake off. When you pick it up by the starter toggle id gradually drops as a good saw would. Could it have a knackered piston and ring and still have good compression? Maybe a crank issue? He's a good guy but not very mechanically minded and I don't want to ask him if I can have the saw for a few days to investigate then hand it back and tell him it's scrap. Does anyone know how much a new piston and barrel are? The rest of the saw is in decent condition, with a fresh bar and chain. Worth fixing?

Maybe you need someone like spud to do the difficult part and then you can finish it of.

They (stihl 070 ) have a fantastic sound when cutting , the Harley Davidson of the chainsaw world.

Eh? Any courier would take the Saw in the mail for a few quid. What an excuse.

The 200t has had its day, the 201tcm is a better saw imo

 

If you could buy it and fix it for 200, then sell it to a gullible college leaver on a Facebook arb page who thinks having a 200t will buy him respect and make him uber cool, you might get 250 after a load of tyre kickers
