sycamore

hi all.

 

I was hoping someone could tell me how they find sycamore to sell on as a business.

 

we have cut about 120t of it and cant decide weather to process it all or sell a couple loads and buy in some other hardwood to mix in.

 

I have heard it burns quite fast so thought I would ask guys who have been at it longer than me

 

this is only our second year selling logs so apologies if it is a daft question

I used to sell a lot of it. I only ever had one complaint and that was that it had blackened their glass on the log burner...it was semi seasoned though and I sold it as such

I would have no issue selling a load of just sycamore, so long as it was nice and dry.

Love the stuff, burns great when properly dry, easy to light, leaves very little ash and kicks off some serious heat. Most people haven't foggiest how different species burn even when you explain the difference.

Great firewood, drys quick ,splits like a carrot even the knotty seasoned stuff, only drawback is it don't last long if left outside.

Good firewood, we've sold hundreds of tons with no complaints. Helps that it looks and burns like Ash. ;-)

Arguably one of the best in my opinion. Sell it and burn it all day long.

I burn a lot of it in my log burner, fab.

Pita to season if left in a large stack as the middle won't get air flow or cut in to dumpy bags even vented ones.... just goes mouldy ! Unless very well seasoned before processing .
