It produces a stock-proof barrier, almost like a growing fence.

 

A hedge thats just flailed back, generally ends up with gaps low down, where lambs or even sheep may get out.

insurance: Not sure about this one, perhaps a fell gone wrong. Piece of machinery in a wreckage.
