My landlord put in a wood burner for me today, bit late as I've been frrreeezzizing since Jan, but better late than never! It's a 5 kw stove made by dean stoves, I have never heard of them but they are made in Devon so can't be bad!

Don't know how much it cost or how it will burn but it seems ok

Seen them in the showroom. The combustion design I think is much the same as Woodwarm (also Devon made) which is no bad thing :thumbup1:

A mate had one and was so pleased with it got a second for his place in France

Trying to convince my wife a wood burner for the house would be a good idea and something to cuddle up in front of the TV won't print her reply [emoji108]

Get one - best thing I've done. Only two winters under my belt but gas bill has dropped dramatically, probably 40-50%. Soon adds up, logs are sort of free and no hassle of delivering them to customers

Nice stove and an even nicer gas bill from here on in. Adding to the need of an install cert. I noticed a new way to increase Landlord Building Insurance; the type of heating now needs specifying and having a wood stove now puts up the price.

I know it's boring, but (esp if a rented property), should have installation certificate and a direct external air source if 5kw and above.

Nice stove!

What about a carbon monoxide detector ? Aren't they a requirement as well?

Yes, I believe so. If it's not been fitted with the burner, they are relatively cheap to buy anyway. Just makes for good sense esp if your family is in the house. 👍🏻
