Having to much qualifications

Hi all, newbie again,

Now as I get nearer to my goal of funding for my tickets my good wife has asked what qualifications are you going for?

I've replied chainsaw ticket, Arial tree rescue, first aid and forestry.cscs card.

A full clean driving licence from 1987 .

Now I assume these are what is needed to hopefully open doors to get a job?

Am I right on the above? Or do I need to work harder to get funds for additional courses?

I've read various on this forum and I see the sky is the limit, is there any rule to thumb on what you need ?

It's the wife who keeps asking these dam questions, a bit annoying at times .

Cheers Nick.:001_smile:

The qualifications you require really depends on where you intend to seek employment.

If your lookin for work with a tree surgeon id say a trailer ticket and chipper course would be more adventagous than the forestry.

If your goin down the forestry route then id say medium tree felling ticket would be a priority.

Hi the forestry was in the first aid course. Sorry it's the way I wrote the question. Yes I'd like to work for a company gaining experience I will do a lantra chipper course as these machines need the respect like chain saws.

Tickets are sometimes a double edged sword ya know.

Some employers look at a person with tickets as a higher wage bill.

I use a guy as groundie sometimes when i sub,hes no qualifications but he can run the ground work no issues, hes never pinched a saw yet has no tickets,he can run rigging and i dont have to keep an eye on him when im up the tree, experience is important too.

As simonm said above work ethic is the first thing that gets noticed.

Good luck mate hope you do well

Ever the optimist!

The Grand National today was won by a Scottish horse, ridden by an Irishman on an English racecourse with commentary from a Welshman.

We've never been so United.
