You were lucky in that, being tank shells. they were likely to be solid shot armour piercing so didn't contain HE. There is a similar round stuck in the side of a church in St Lo. Bet it was a brown trouser moment though. :001_smile:

 

I joined my regiment as an armoured car gunner, on Saladins, so it all came back to me. That seemed like 90 years ago! Our shells were 76mm not 75mm.

We had a bomb scare Christmas Eve in town, bomb squad have to come from La Rochelle which is almost two hours away. My neighbour told me that there is only two bases in France. How many teams operate from each base , no idea but I assume quite a few. There's still a lot of ordnance floating about France.
