The sprocket and crank were replaced in my 261 last year because of severe rocking on the sprocket plate. This kept leading to clutch springs snapping, the saw not starting with the chain brake on and many other issues.

Just wondering what everyone else is using instead of the 261 or whats size saw is one up from the 261 ??

Thanks

I'm considering going back to stihl due to their cheap spares compared to echo and husqvarna! However my echo cs 620sx has had some hammer and never ever faltered. Lovely saw on an 18 bar.

Stihl ms 241 on a 14" bar no probs in 3 yrs 362 I believe is a good saw a mate has 2 and he says plenty of power and ain't let him down yet about 12 month old now but he works in forestry so it won't be sat there doing nowt it will be revving its nuts of 7-8 hours a day.

The newest version of the 261 is actually a very good saw. All issues sorted, 300g lighter, better side case for better chip clearance and it's got more power than its predecessor.

I run it on a 15" sugihara bar with full chisel chain. It's so nimble.

I've also got a new 362 and it's got bags of power on an 18".
