That seems really high to me, I've just done a quick add up of costs throughout the year. Truck, Fuel, Insurance, yard, phone, advertising etc and its working out around £55 a day (thats including taking away the weekends). But not including the unexpected costs like having to fork out £800 on fixing my chipper when the hydraulic pump decided to cock up. So with the unexpected costs, maybe £70 a day.

How much do you spend on advertisement? because I know some people spend a fortune on this area of business and it can bring costs right up.

Have you tried scaling that back to see if it actually makes any difference?

My advertising spend is £25 a year web hosting.

I have 15,000 flyers delivered each month. Website costs £6 per month. I've only been running about 2 years so word of mouth started around 6/8 months ago.

If those 15000 are going to the same places each month your wasting your money. People will get pissed off with seeing the same thing every month.

Maybe try and cut that down and speak to google about Adwords. That can work if you get it set up properly.

Flyers are working exceptionally well for us. Usually get around 100 leads and 55/65 jobs from them which I think is pretty good. Around £3000 profit per 15,000. Tried Adwords, waste of time for us!
