That's a good idea. And it obviously works coz the guys smiling!

Cheers.

Gonna try dumper in woods in next couple of weeks loading it with the grab on the trailer and forwarding out timber in the skip, I know it won't get a full weight on it but it might give me some idea of how it will behave

I'd certainly be interested to know how you get on with this idea/project. Ive been bouncing a similar idea around for a while, for a loading carrying unit for sawlogs into my lucas mill, with good off road capability and to look as ugly as possible. Mad Max machines rock my boat !

Sorry for the derail. Has anyone ever converted a dumper for use as a skidding unit? Not talking huge timber but just multiple fire wood lengths. A friend of mine and me had an idea to weld a plate to the front of the bucket with the notches for choker chains, tip the bucket, hook on the chains and put the bucket down lifting up the logs. Only issue with this would be driving everywhere in reverse

Yes, i will dig out a couple of photos. Lack of a diff lock meant it was not good on soft ground, and the hydraulic winch was a bit slow. But it extracted a few thousand trees before i up graded to pto winch and tractor.
