Stihl 201tcm or husqvarna 540xp 2?

not tried the husky but the 201tcm is fine not to far off the 200t in performance imo.

been pretty reliable so far.

Don't rule out the echo, it's a real contender by all accounts. I'm looking forward to trying one myself

I think you need to realise that the 201tcm is a lot better than the old 201, and I think a lot of people are saying it's rubbish as there talking about the old version.

Ours has got lots of power, doesn't bog down in cut, and it is very reliable. I really like it.

I've been looking at both these saws, but getting a lot of conflicting views on each. Basically feeling in the dark about which one to go for. Heading to the store tomorrow to check them both out. Has anyone got experience using both and give me the pros and cons of each? Nice one guys!

I'd choose the saw that your local dealer sells.

IMO they are pretty equal in performance and quality.

I cant really say much about the husqvarna, as much as I would like to try it out as i have heard many a good thing about it, the Swedish saws are the Devils saw here in Germany, so difficult to convince the boss to get one.

 

Having said that, i agree with a lot of people here, the 200t is a great saw, immense power once ported, BUT, as mentioned, lots of carb issues. The 201t is utter "scheisse". Hate it. Wont touch my workmates, and we just laugh at him when he moans about its lack of power.

The 201TCM however, i have had since it was released (which i believe was a couple of months before you had it on the UK) and i havent had any issues with it at all. From cold start, starts on the secind pull, everytime. Runs quick, plenty of power, very happy with it.

As mentioned by someone already, the plastic does seem a little flimsy as i have had to replace the air filter cover twice, because it cracked. A little thing that i can live with. With some duct tape
