I couldn't really believe what I saw today.

A jcb digging the drainage channels out of the verge ( grips I believe they are called)

Well there's one jcb, two transits in all three blokes, one to drive digger and two to move the signs every time the digger moved to the next grip, then walk back to get there vans!!

I assume the tax payer pays for this sort of thing?

Anything like this out your way?

The company was called "ground" something, can't remember the last bit.

Resurfacing the minor road in Polperro at the moment.

Like many Cornish fishing villages, usually really quiet this time of year with all the Summer trade & holiday homes vacated.

Never seen the place so busy! There are more men and heavy equipment in one place than you could ever imagine! It's truly staggering!! Literally dozens of them, mostly on the mobile or sat in the vans. They have enough kit and muscle to instal a motorway and they are doing about 300m of minor, single carriageway per day!

That's terrible, they should have a Segway to get back to their vans

 that would be brilliant, I would love to see something like that.

Since every other road is being dug up at the moment I guess there must be some major budget burning is going on.

it sounds normal practice to me.

unfortunately we live in a society where people are sued for trivial reasons. they will need the Traffic Management so that if an accident occurs the HSE cant give a royal bumming.

Yeah traffic management is pretty crap especially if your on a stop go board. I have seen some road works that were managed with stop and go. One end a larger chap was sat in the van with a stop and go board sat in the top of a cone. He was using a stick to poke it round from one way to the other. I think if the fella was using any less effort he would have to give up breathing. But made me chuckle all the same
