I think it's just a excuse to be idle, working near electricity you need to maintain the correct safety distance or it as got to be isolated, I was talking to somebody in December who had started work for the local authorities, on his first day I asked how he'd got on, he told me that they had not set foot outside the van all day as it was raining. He said the lads don't work when it's raining as they will get their PPE and climbing equipment dirty.

That would drive me mad, I couldn't sit in the van for a day even if I was getting paid for it.

I've called off 2 jobs due to wether in my whole career as a arborist and both times were due to really heavy wind (one with a power line near by and another was a poplar that was snapping out as soon as my saw touched it). Never due to rain. May move jobs about now a days if it's a decent sized reduction and I want to make a good job of it. But I'll still find another job that can be done in the rain.

To work on the rail you need protection in place and a minimum n of 25 sec ( LuL ) of sighting time time if the weather turns and visibility is reduced then work must stop that's h&s also rain will increase risk of slipping tripping etc

So no we won't work in the rain, and even if there was gang made of you lot who are super keen to crack on and work your fingers to the bone you wouldn't last 5 mins coz a train driver would report you and you'd be stopped reported suspended etc

I think it's fair to say that all the guys making negative comments are making comments on a subject you no nothing about but it's Great fun reading them

Remember guys there's 2 sides to every story

That's where you are very much mistaken, I've forgotten more on the rail than you know, I was a subcontractor on the railway for many many years and wouldn't go back there for a gold pig.

Indeed there is Joel77

I used to hold the old PTS and PICOW qual and did a lot of nights and weekend possesion work doing bank stabilisation work around yorkshire working hand in hand with teams doing the clearance work. We never stopped for rain and normally worked bloody hard every shift.

Most lads on here are i suggest are fairly hard working and modest in as much as they wont brag as to what they are earning etc etc. one of my house rules for the kids is not to gloat !!.

Probably a lot of truth in what you say is happening but right is right and what you describe can in no way be called the right way to carry out a job. But if your happy then crack on.

Probably more how you portrayed the whole thing that has wound people up.

Not on a possession or a block which is when most of the productive work takes place.

Sighting distance! Had it once or twice when trains were running and it had to be a pea souper.

Good things come............. to an end
