New tractor, looking at Valtra T130

Our current tractor is very rapidly getting worn out, its a 95hp case 995, great nimble tractor, really good in the woods however for road work it is just too old, slow and underpowered.

Looking at a upgrading, it will be used to pull out 10t forwarding trailer, tow a plant trailer with timber or our 8t excavator on, a small amount of mowing and chip haulage.

Any views on the above? I like the idea of a valtra as they are fairly easy to guard up, has a nice flat floor for the forwarding controls and there is the option of reverse drive.

Anything else to look at or anything to watch for when buying? Budget is around £25-30k

Nice tractors they pull like a train. They can be a little cumbersome in a small woodland as you've got a mile of bonnet and some front weights on the end of that.

130hp is a good amount for forwarding it anything a little overpowered for a 10T forwarding trailer. There was a t120 and a T150 which were a little less popular than the 130 which sometimes come up for around the same money.

As for things to look out for nothing jumps out from memory. Just be aware that your budget will get you from 6k -10k hour machines. Depending on what gismos you have. Towards 10k hours I'd want to be getting an ag engineer to be going over anything like a CVT gearbox because if it's had a hard life it may leave you an expensive problem.

If you've got a suspended front axle check it still works. It's early N series tractors that had some problems, not so aware of any with a T series.

Will be still keeping the case for smaller jobs and have the brunnett for the majority of forwarding work. It will be just if we have to run timber by road it will be used for forwarding. Ill have a look around for a t120 as well, other than the usual places any reccomended dealers?

Just got a T131 from Brian robbinson machinery in East Cowton and very happy with it, pulls the big botex trailer no problem and actually seems very good on fuel for its size.

Yes it takes a bit more turning around than a smaller 4 cylinder tractor but the big nose give it a lot of stability and quiet a nice ride on the road.

I'd stick with a hitech model as a lot less electronic stuff like simple levers onto hydraulic valves rather than push button stuff.

We have an n121 and a n123, both great tractors, both used for forwarding trailers and then through spring and summer I take the 123 bale karting about 18t. Both go tipping through our agg land. Both reliable and. Comfy. Hope this helps. Ed ImageUploadedByArbtalk1484665096.733212.jpg.4c180c87672f8c55e35582a069532f63.jpg
