Saw for over size timber

Hi all, apologise in advance for another chainsaw thread, have read through most threads on the subject.

Currently have a 550xpg on a 15, a echo 620 on a 20 and a 460 on a 25. Looking to buy a saw to run a 28-30 inch bar, had my mind made up on a 661 but after reading through this site I am now unsure weather to go 576 or 390. No experience of husky saws as 550 is only a couple weeks old and I haven't had chance to use it that much,

New saw will be purely for ringing up hardwood on the ground. Looking or any sujeations on what to get

Thanks in advance

Tom

i have a spud reconditioned 084 i'm willing to sell.

interested???

Yea . I had a cracking 372 and sold it when the 575 came out ( for runner to current 576 ) and I hated it . Weighed nearly as much as my 385 but made less power . So got another 372 ( pre Xtorque ) and got it spudded . Loudest saw he ever did he recons .

Not one vote for a still yet! Not a fan of outboard clutches so rules out 395. Don't think I have enough to warrens the 3120 plus think I'd need a week to recover after using it!

Shame hoe the newer generation saws are still being out done by the older generation, I thaught the 576 would be ahead of the 390 371 gen!

Ya I had the unfortunate chance to use a 575 and then didn't learn and bought a 576

Not used the 661 or 390/395 but I love my 660 that I use a 36" bar on. Prefer it to using the 880 as it's less cumbersome. Also have a mint 064 that I usually run on a 20" and sometimes a 25" bar. Peach of a saw. I'm hoping they last well as I prefer them to the newer saws. That said the 441 has been great.

Both Husqvarna and stihl seem less reliable with more electronics. Go for whichever you have a better dealer back up on. Most shops around my way are dropping or cutting back on husqvarna sales because they simply have less margin in the sale.

If your running a 460 on a 25" you need a 395 or 661 next , I would forget about the 390 as it will never feel strong enough on the ground and on paper the 460 is stronger than the 576 , the only reason I pick up my 576 is the anti vibe is noticeably better to the 460 which imo has the worse anti vibes of any modern pro saw maybe except to the ms 150!
