It's a misconception that anything on the General Licence can just be killed by anyone whenever they feel like it. Rooks are on the General Licence.6c62468fc619c3216f641f00995ba772.jpg

I have no interest in killing them but I would be destroying their nesting site.

Though re the general license it would be under the public safety option - people and their property could be harmed if the tree fell over (with nests still attached!)

It's only illegal if it's an active nest site.

It's nearly December people. Rooks do not lay eggs at this time of year.

 

Common sense prevails, they will build another nest when they are ready to mate again. There used to be a rookery near here then one year they all just upped and left for no apparent reason and the site has been abandoned for decades now.

Thats because some one near by has died . Old folk law round here .
