last time i used my throwline i had to climb up and get it out the tree:blushing:

Has anyone come up with a good slip knot for when it snags?.At the moment we use fishing snap swivels which will snap open before the throwline breaks.Bloody Macs.

I thought Id post a pic of a fishing snap swivel.One of these little beauties saved me a climb back up a poplar at the end of a job today.We usually attach one to the throwball and then use about a 1.5m length of lighter twine, then another snap swivel, attached to the throwline.These will snap open before the throwline breaks.Generally the smaller(lighter) ones are best.

i use a cheap 3mm line from the hardware shop 60 metres for 7 bucks,lasts maybe 6 months,not alot of choice where i live

Glad I am not the only one. I was out practicing with some zing-it the other day and wrapped the limb. Luckily I could reach it with the pole saw to untangle it.

Weaver 3mm throwline with a 16oz bag on both ends (for isolating target) thrown out of a Faltheimer or 'Stein copy' foldable cube is very workable and practical for most situations like setting climbing line in tree or setting a pull line when felling. I found Zing It to be a worthless waste of time, tho it did come in handy when I was marking out a room for wooden flooring. The other thing to remember when using a throwline is to not to try and pull it out the tree too fast if you've miss your target and need to throw again. Nice and easy does it.
