Actually I got told a belter a couple of weeks ago!

The reason tw don't put a bonnet on the little petrol 125/160 is because tree surgeons fell trees on in and brake it so you have to buy a new one so saving you money ! I s hit you not.

Yeah we're forever landing trees on chippers! I think they missed a trick on the 160, not changing the externals at all makes it look really dated compared to the greenmech 130

Totally agree the gm 130 is finished far better and is 1500 quid cheaper.

Bob,

If it was my machine I would have laughed at the guy.

It was a colleagues first brand new chipper. I didn't have the heart to say anything.

Sorry i'd have said something esp if mates first chipper and trying to look after them / help out. Crap info to come from manufacturor. Doesnt fill you with confidence at all

I thought the reason may be to keep the engine cooler.

I saw one for sale on eBay a few months back which had a bonnet made of checker plate, it looked quite smart.

Might put one on my old entec

It would run a bit cooler but it's got to be better to have it covered, think of all the dust in summer and rain and salt in winter.
