Employed or self employed in what role SP ??  Just to get an insight into how you view things, the harsh reality of self employed small businesses or the soft cosy embrace of a public sector job.

Steady on, our police, fire and ambulance personnel come under that embrace and its far from cosy at times I would expect.

Each of those 3 enjoy some cracking employment perks including early retirement and great pensions, good for them if they can get it.

Don't forget that firefighters (did, not sure now) pay 13.5% of their pay into their pension and can look forward to being liable to cancers at a higher incidence than the general public of the same age by up to 323%, hence the early retirement age. For plod etc, I'm sure that you could do your own search.

Like I say good luck to them if they can get it. It was a question to SP regarding his position not really a criticism of any of the services so no need to search anything.
