Leftist bias... Wikkipedia is an open source thing, anyone can submit, edit, or amend any of the articles, so if anything on there is factually incorrect the 'community' can correct it.

As such I think it is a handy source for quick information - and if the article compares Trump to the definitions of fascism I am inclined to think that far cleverer minds than mine have come to that opinion too.

So based on the definitions in Wikkipedia or those Big J posted, where is Trump NOT fascist?

There's just no effort to dispute my assertion that Trump is a fascist. Just deflection, distraction and schoolyard insults.

Please, for the sake of an intelligent debate, engage with what I and others are saying and make a reasoned argument for why you believe that Trump is not a fascist. The moment you catch yourself resorting to an insult, a redirect or whataboutery, bring yourself back on topic.

We all clearly have different politics. That's fine and perfectly natural. But the moment you resort to personal attacks, you undermine your credibility and any good points you might make simply drown in a sea of personal vitriol.

Wikipedia is leftist biased. No, he's not a fascist. Arresting people for silently praying and posting memes and coercing injections with job loss and house arrest is fascistic. Britain is fascistic, in some respects, under the current Labor government. Most of the blue stat governors were and are fascistic.

Being "a fascist" as a general ideological position is quite different to doing sporadic fascistic type things. If the isolated things become so frequent and normalized that they join up and crowd out the "normal" stuff, then I suppose one could say s state had gone fascist. Or communist. Totalitarian.

Calling Trump fascist is intellectually dishonest. A citizen in a red state under Trump has considerably more liberty than citizens of many other Western states. Some of the fascistic offences committed by the Obama and Biden administrations have been cancelled, and leftists perceive this as fascistic. Because they think their own fascistic stuff is really fluffy and cool.

It boils down to calling whatever we don't like, fascist.

I appreciate the thoughtful response, and the fact that it stuck to your perception of the facts, as opposed to attacking me and others.

I don't agree that America is a place that enjoys a high degree of freedom. It is incredibly unequal, with high levels of gun violence and substance abuse. Access to healthcare and education is prohibitively expensive for many and the cost of having children in terms of childcare and parental leave are one of the main reasons why the US is so dependent on immigrant labour. People living in the United States simply cannot afford to have children.

For each and every one of the 14 points listed above, Trump has repeatedly demonstrated the requisite behaviour or policy.

American hegemony is most likely going to come to an end in the coming decades, and what follows it is unclear. China has a catastrophic demographic problem, decades in the making, relating to its one child policy. There are now as many people in China over the age of 53 as there are under, and their economy is entirely reliant on manufacture and export, at the expense of a suppressed domestic consumer market.

What I think will ultimately be the downfall of the US is that the debt burden is now the single largest expense for any US Administration, greater even than the budget for the military. With Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, the deficit will only increase and America's level of indebtedness will skyrocket whilst the personal wealth of billionaires will expand exponentially.

And then you factor in AI and the future looks pretty bleak.....

On that last point. The future does indeed look bleak. This was on yesterday, a bit towards the end grabbed my attention. AI has recently entered a race between Chinese Open Source and Western, (largely US based) Closed Source versions. Whoever the analyst was, he predicted that the former would win, but neither was a positive outlook. Paraphrasing but it was something like: The China model reinforces the right of the state to be repressive and authoritarian, whilst the US model allows society to continue to be dominated by corporations in a race to the bottom, (and you can say what you like on generative AI, but the real world outside your screen is getting worse). BLEAK!

From about 25 minutes in;-

Aleks and Kevin ask whose AI development ideology will win: China or the US?

Pointless J, like the accusations of racism, homophobia, Islamophobia etc etc by SP and others against myself 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️doesn’t matter what you say in reply it’s not enough, accusing anyone is the easiest attack method. You know you despise Trump to the point you are incapable of rational thinking, so in reality you are never gonna be swayed by anything anyone writes here. Unfortunately for you J and plenty of others the American people voted him in.
I think one of the misconceptions in Europe  is that the average American gives a shit about much outside of the USA, my recent holiday in NY would suggest the exact opposite, it’s America first for most I came across.

Any chance of you completing one topic on another thread SP, or are you just gonna blag your way through as usual until you get a question you can’t cope with answering. Integrity isn’t high on your list of priorities is it blagger.

I don't think we are ever gonna get the answers, the guy is typical of his political leanings, perfectly entitled to his opinion as are we all, but just like the current batch of clowns in charge, had 14 years of simply opposing and discrediting  everything anyone else said or done, some of which relating to countries they don't even live in but become obsessed with a particular person who does. but then when by hook or crook has a chance to make things better, simply fecks it up worse than the predecessors. don't think of it as "poking the bear" more akin to the "bleating sheep".
