So six months later you phone him up and ask him for the winch back for the price paid?

You're surprised he refused the offer?

Talk about wanting your cake and eating it!

Oi! Don't come round here pulling skyhuck up, between him, you and Stephen Blair there's nowt else to be learnt.

Like I say, I'm glad the likes of you are not my mate. I needed one for a job, asked about and was shocked by how much they were.

I was pissed off that he had shafted me, in actual fact he had never actually completed the deal (£40 still owing) if he was any sort of a decent bloke he would have returned the winch or given me more money. He already had the same model winch on one of his mogs.

I have good mates who would never dream of dealing with me like that or me with them, but as I say I don't need "mates" like that or you by the sound of things :001_smile:

To be honest I think I misread your original post. I thought you said you managed to pick up the damaged winch for free (ie you didn't pay anything for it). Rereading it I realise that isn't what you wrote, you are actually saying that you managed to free it off and don't allude to what it cost you. My bad, sorry!

Either way, they look like a decent winch if they can be had for the right money!!!

:thumbup1: No worries:001_smile:

Oh no! I've been cast into the wilderness, I'm not (and will probably never be) Dave's mate.

I can only sit here and think that there must be more to this? I've got a fair bit of respect for both sides of this argument, but know the guy who was supposedly doing the ripping off personally and I'm struggling to see how it could be that straight forward.

I've only ever received anything from the man in question. My mog seat was shot so he gave me a replacement, no money changed hands. I've had endless advice to help me with something I know very little about and there's never been any financial motive. He's also got enough faith in me to hand over the keys to his high spec 1450 and let me jump in it and drive it half way across the country on my own. Before that moment, although we've spoken a lot, I'd met him once. He also needed an anti roll bar for his U900 and I quite seriously offered mine as I don't suppose it matters whether mine has one or not. He was having none of it.

Nobody's perfect and we all have our disagreements, but I'm struggling to match this judgement of character to the man it is aimed at. In my experience there have been a number of occasions where money could have changed hands in his favour but it has never happened. I'd trust him with everything I own.

Winches for Unimog?

Any other suggestions or are we done here?

Thankyou to all the suggestions everyone's mentioned

I'll be using Bob's Boughton for a bit till money says I can get (more than likely) a farmi winch like Grays [emoji106]🏻

Bare in mind that the Werner on ebay will include VAT, so £2500+VAT, if that makes any difference.
