wood pellets

I have the chance of some free wood pellets , can you burn them on a log stove

I've only done so by adding some to my logs and seemed okay. I remember someone mentioning that you can get a basket for inserting into a lot stove for pellets.

They retail at £250 a tonne don't pass it up, they burned ok on my Jotul alongside logs.

WoodFuel pellets are designed to be burnt in an enclosed space where air flow is carefully controlled, & pellets are continually fed into the boiler - hence why heat output so high (circa 4800 kWh/ton) - in biomass boilers.

 

You won't achieve this with a stove.

I burned some pellets on my parents open fire. Tbh, they burned quite well and I would do it again. I just poured them in at one end, they obvioulsy fall through the grate but they still burn beneath the fire. You obvioulsy need some logs as the core of the Fire.

 

You could maybe put them on a baking tray or something.

if they are worth 250 a ton sell them nice profit before Christmas,and even buy in some logs to replace them with the spare cash!!
