  1. Based near Wragby Lincolnshire and closest processor hire is Grantham ... 140 mile round trip. Was quoted £350 per day minimum 3 days. I can't find anyone nearer. 19 tonnes of straight silver birch arrived today and 22+ of Larch in a week or so.
  2. Lincolnshire but not tree worker, just burn the stuff. Thanks though for interest.
  3. I shifted 22 tonnes last year by manually loading 1000kg trailer & Terrano, unload one at a time to Balfour single phase saw bench, to 7 ton Handy Pro vertical splitter and barrowed to stack. Now have screwed Achilles tendon hence looking at better options starting with initial of shifting logs.
  4. I've been looking at options for shifting 3m long 30cm diameter logs from pile to saw bench. Currently manual lifting. Was looking at International 475 sized tractor with front loader but have seen Kellfri trailer and grabber. Any thoughts on Kellfri?
  5. I've been looking for a couple of artic loads of softwood but am finding it difficult. Last I was paying £43 +vat per tonne, this year nowt available all I can find is birch at £65/tonne.
  6. It's from Forestry Commission forest so without doubt has all of the documentation that could possibly exist. The wood was also FSC 100% pure but that stops with the supplier as the chain of custody is broken as I'm not FSC certified. I've left a message with the FC admin hub about it. Complete red tape gravy train for BSL.
  7. Does anyone have experience or knowledge in obtaining a copy of a UK Forestry Standard compliant management plan that would have been created, along with the felling licence, for a forest where wood fuel originated? I am registering 22 tonnes of fuel on the Biomass Suppliers List as a producer/trader (personal use). I bought the wood from Euroforest but they say they do not have a copy of the plan but only the felling licence as these plans could cover a 25 year period! Unless I can get this document I can only submit the fuel via a Risk Based Regional Assessment (RBRA) that incurs a BSL fee of £450 +VAT! Thanks
  8. Riko website had a second hand WP36TR as "From £5,500 (no VAT)"
  9. I take it these are rebadged Farmi Mastersplit WP36.
  10. I wouldn't put it past Centre Parcs charging such extortionate prices. There's a good chance that most visitors to Centre Parcs have never bought a log in their lives so they don't know any better.
  11. Yes, when talking about a Cord but I am talking about cordWOOD not a Cord of wood ... FFS. I do not believe people are specifically thinking of the specific measurement of 4'x4'x8' but believe that there is a very specific type of wood irrespective of length, stacking etc.
  12. Okay, so the consensus seems to be that cordwood is not a thing in reality but rather a loosely used term for "wood only suitable for processing into firewood usually straight'ish, not overly large in diameter." However ... from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordwood_construction "... in which 'cordwood' or short pieces of debarked tree ..."
  13. East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire near Wragby.
  14. Just to update my own post ... I bought an artic load of softwood earlier this year from Euroforest. I got a weighing receipt from the haulage driver showing quantity and a tick box for the FSC 100% Pure Chain of Custody certification and the sellers FSC cert number (Euroforest). They also sent me a scanned page of the felling contract that shows the felling licence number and again the Chain of Custody number.
  15. May I ask where from or pm me the contacts please?
  16. Did you actually buy from the Forestry Commission or from a trader that got their wood from the FC?
  17. I've seen a few posts asking for cordwood. Is there such a thing or is it meaningless as when I've spoken with timber merchants they seem confused by the term or even say there's no such thing.
  18. Mmmm I see your point. The last hardwood price I got was about £65/tonne back in March for FSC 100% Pure. The softwood at £48/tonne was chipping wood but looking at some of the responses this seems to be on the high end. They had 50+ tonnes of nice straight 2.5m 20cm round softwood at £60/tonne +VAT but is for fencing.
  19. Ok thanks for the prices. Have been quoted £48 +vat per ton for FSC 100% pure Scots pine delivered about 1/2 mile away from me in Lincs.
  20. Surely someone must be buying artic loads of softwood.
  21. What's the going rate in your area for softwood timber if looking for an artic load?
  22. I've just been quoted for 26t of softwood (Pine from Forestry Commision wood, FSC Certified) at £50 per tonne inclusive of haulage (Norfolk to Lincs) and VAT. Is this about right as I gather prices have rocketed in the last couple of years? I seem to remember two years back this would have been about £35/tonne.
