Raker file

Hi,

 

My Oregon file has about had it now so I am going to order a few. I never really felt that the Oregon had much bite to it so I was wondering what others used, noticed valorbe on chainsaw bars site are they any good? Only used for rakers as use a different file for bars.

Use the stihl ones now they last a lot longer.

Whatever you choose - if you get through one file a year, it's not much point buying more than one at a time. Otherwise, just buy a box at a time. Having said that, just about any smooth flat file will do for the rakers.

I don't rate the Oregon flat files although the round files seem fine. Valorbe, Grobet, Bahco or Nicholson should all be better, I personally use Grobet and Nicholson.

One file a year? I'm lucky to keep one for a week before its lost!

I know that they are not available in France but have no knowledge if available in the UK. If yes then the way to go is Save Edge followed by Valorbe, Pferd,& Bahco. the problem with the files marketed by Oregon, Stihl etc is they are open to tender so there is no way of knowing the actual producer hence some good some less so were the own brand label the quality is usually consistant

Chainsawbars on here has Save Edge round files so they might carry flat ones as well. Rob.D is the man to ask.
