Cone splitter on crane rotator.

I've been wondering about getting a cone splitter that fits onto a crane rotator.

 

Are they any good?

 

How much force will a 3T rotator have? Would a larger rotator be better?

 

Its a cheap way of reducing timber down, if it works.

Yes they are very good, but quite expensive.

 

I'm think more of simply a screw type cone that fits directly onto the crane rotator.

I doubt a rotator would have the torque needed

I do some work for a company who had a ex electric board uni mog that had a crane that was used for fitting poles he took the drilling attachment off and fitted a cone splitter it wasn't to be honest !

You would need to constantly rotate against the screw direction! Couldn't think of a worse thing to put it on tbh!

What you want is a leg cracker! Don't know what their real name is and they come in all different designs but I'm sure you can get 1 that would get pined down with the Hiab leg then run off the leg hoses with extended hoses and a diverter.

Using the grab to rip the wood off makes it so much quicker compared to trying to just split them with a cone or woodcracker head.
