rustic garden gate

Hi guys I have been asked to make a rustic garden gate , and making it is not the problem ,what sort of price is fair , I looked on flea bay and they were all crap, is £200/250 sounding about right by the time I source the wood joint it sand it etc its going to take 2days , lookingforwardto your thoughts

Depends on the size, if it was a drive way gate I would say very fair.......

I think for two days work that's about right plus cost of materials on top. Depends what you're happy to work for but in my area £100 a day is cheap for skilled man. Just depends if the customer is prepared to pay in excess of £300 for a gate

just because it's rustic doesn't mean it should be cheap, in my opinion it takes more skill to make a good rustic item as you are not playing with flat or parallel timber like a normal item. £350-£400 id say mate.

You can't price a job by trying to guess what the customer is willing to pay for the finished item, you will end up working for peanuts or worse, making a loss.

Estimate the time it will take you, multiply that by an hourly rate you are happy with and then add on costs for materials.

Hi guys I went to meet the lady who wants the gate, and she wants a driveway and path gate but she wants them quite tall so her dog cant jump over them also she is 80yrs old young with a bad shoulder so big gate will need a wheel or to swing nicely so priced up gates a5 our local farm supplies shop £750 for both so going on that do you think £900 would be cool , and nice on Steve just coz something is rustic you are right it takes longer as you said nothing is flat and square , got to do some designs and prices and get back to the customer will keep you all posted , thanks for your replys

How high can the dog jump? Also no point making them higher than the adjoining fence/wall as the dog will jump over that instead.

Hi I would sa the gate is going to have to be 5ft tall looking at the gate with trellis on top she has at the mo
