Imagine if the saw kicks back when he is cutting off the last strip of holding wood.

 

He seemed fairly competent to me so doubt it was a concern for him.

I guess it was to reduce effort, timber that diameter is not going anywhere and they obviously had some serious winch power.

I don't get it.

No ear or eye protection so why bother with a helmet?

No long rope to get out the tree in an emergency/cup of tea!

No gob cut to control direction!

Windsurf boots with some spikey thing tied on with some garden string!

 

But it seems to work well for him.
