  2. I've stopped bothering with breakdown cover. Often all they do is subcontract the work to local garages. You get to the same position by cutting out the middle man, going on google maps and finding a local garage or recovery service that will come and collect the car and take you to a garage. Then get a taxi home.
  3. Not a fan but ......
  4. So there we go: most modern music does sound like the same bland crap. We're not just being old farts. From art form to asset: our study found popular songs are becoming more generic THECONVERSATION.COM It’s largely down to the demands of streaming services.
  5. I follow Brian on Instagram, he's a clever and amusing gentleman.
  6. Pretty sure there'll be facehuggers in there somewhere!

Never seen this before. Thought it was quite cool, and seasonal.

  12. STIHL will be unveiling a wide range of new tools and technologies at this year’s SALTEX, one of Europe’s leading grounds management shows, taking place on 12–13 November 2025 at the NEC, Birmingham. Among the highlights will be STIHL’s latest charging solutions and a series of new battery-powered products launched in 2025, including the PKA 30 battery pump head, the SGA 30 battery sprayer and the WSA 40 battery water container. A key attraction on the stand will be the CM 8 charging management system, which allows up to eight chargers to run from a standard 230 V socket. The system enables twice as many chargers to be used on a single fuse, with built-in overload protection ensuring safe and reliable operation. Designed for straightforward setup, it offers a simple yet innovative way to manage charging across multiple tools. Also on show will be a selection of AP System battery-powered machines, including the RMA 7 lawn mowers, BRA 500 & 600 backpack blowers, and the HSA 140 & 150 hedge trimmers. Visitors can also see live demonstrations of the new GTA 40 pruner and MS 400.1 chainsaw, which delivers the best power-to-weight ratio of any professional chainsaw in the 60cc class. STIHL will further expand its PPE range with three new lines of chainsaw protective clothing. The FUNCTION range is designed for occasional use, while the ADVANCE range is tailored for professional arborists and tree workers, ensuring every level of user is supported. Visitors can also discover the full line-up of STIHL’s latest spraying and water management solutions. The PKA 30 pump head provides automatic constant pressure when added to the STIHL SG 30 sprayer or cut-off machine water tank, eliminating manual pumping for greater efficiency. The SGA 30 sprayer builds on this innovation with a complete backpack solution, offering variable pressure adjustments and precise liquid distribution. Completing the trio is the WSA 40 water container, which delivers a mobile, pressurised water supply to cut-off machines such as the TS 410 or TSA 300, supplying up to seven tanks or 30 minutes of operation with a single AS battery. STIHL experts will be on hand throughout the event to provide demonstrations, advice and guidance across the entire product range. For more information, please visit www.stihl.co.uk.

    Joe's Driveway

Happy to take any logs/cord wood so long as can be carried by 2xAdults. Please call before so we can ensure there is space for you.
  14. There's no choke because the primer bulb squirts petrol in the intake to richen it. When you press thebulb your finger covers the hole that allows fuel to drain back when running. The screw at the bottom of the float chamber is just a drain. I think the silver screw opens the butterfly to increase tickover revs. The other is probably the slow running mixture.
  15. Recently I've encountered many zama and Walbro carbing issues on saw rebuilds. Sometimes it's purely a case of a new kit and its sorted but when that doesn't work is where i come up against a brick wall. Could it be a welch plug issue or the check valve below the brass piece? What i'd like to know is is there someone or a company that will refurbish these carbs so they're good to go and as good as new again as they tend to be from older or saws that have been laying around for a while that i completely rebuild thanks
  16. Yes I used to swap every year, now it's an addition to car insurance.
  17. On the drive would be great, please let me know if there is anything else you require, many thanks, I really appreciate it
  18. I’ve got an offer from AA at the minute for personal cover for £180. £75 of that is commercial for the Transit, which they recovered no problem in the past when the fuel injector pump went. That’s for roadside and relay, I don’t bother with home start. The problem is at renewal time they seem to double the price whether I’ve used them or not.
  19. My Brilliantissimum has this same problem. Were you ever able to diagnose it or fix it? I was so disappointed when this year the leaves quickly started developing this browning in the middle again, despite removing the affected leaves quickly.
  20. Anybody got a link to service manual for valves etc. Also haven't had one of these float bowl carbs apart for years. 3 screws in pic - 2 on top one next to float nut. Guessing one of the top ones must be idle. What are the other 2? No choke currently won't restart after warm. Cheers - any help appreciated
  21. I am with Auto Aid and it is personal cover so will work for any car/van/bike. Covers my wife free of charge also and cost just £65 per year. Not had a lot of need for them in recent years but I think they have rescued me once and it was fine. They just use a local garage of course, they don't have their own vehicles - it is just an insurance policy in reality. Cover is pretty comprehensive including home start and recovery anywhere in the UK.

  24. Morning all, Weather ok today, so can get some planned work done for our friends. Amazingly none or their trees suffered. The last 12 miles or so along the Ardnamurchan peninsula had a massive amount of storm damage. To the extent I would think it would be more efficient to accept the BT cables being broken to allow tree clearance to be faster, rather than trying to work round them.
