  1. Past hour
  2. Photos below! It looks possible to maybe weld a 'blob' on the top then grind a groove back in with a Dremel for the circlip. The post does not show as a separate part although it has a T27 hole in the top! Just priced it up new £74 with the VAT and shipping, Unless somebody has a complete flywheel and cover assembly then it looks like a new one! I see lots of Chinese starter housings for sale but reluctant to take a risk on those! but £15 complete!! The washer is on after clip to keep it all in position, not as it should be under clip!

  10. Today
  11. I'll try that now! just going to the workshop, thanks for that snippet!
  12. Calm down you hothead 🤣
  13. @Fatboy2017 I've just looked at pics of your battery online: is that a reset button beside the indicator lights? If not read no further; if yes read on... I recently had an Ego 56v battery 'die'; it got what's known Stateside as the red ring of death in its indicator lights and wouldn't take charge even directly connected in parallel to a good battery. It needed resetting which in that case was done by pressing the reset button three times, holding down for 7 seconds on the third press. Bingo!
  14. For info what 1/4 chains does everybody use? I've only used the Stihl chain which cuts well and smooth, but still a bit pricey, any alternative worth using? As muddy42 says limiting factor is old eyes, I have set up good lighting a break out the reading glasses to even attempt filing! I'll have to try the 4mm file, I use the file holder method to keep the file from bending on this and on the top handle saws.
  15. Thanks for the relies. I agree on all the info, I picked the saw up with a family members elderly father in law in mind who wanted a 50cc or slightly larger, either Husky or Stihl , got a MS260 as well so he could have a choice, both are in pretty ok condition for the years and just required the usual suspects, fuel lines, filters, clutch bearing, and mounts on the 260 and fuel line ( filter line lying in the bottom of the tank!) of course carb clean as screen full of crap, clutch bearing and clutch retainers and the wing nut as fitted with the stupid quick tensioner also on this MS261c plus this easy start issue I found. I will photo it and also look at seeing if I can look to make a good repair on it. This saw also has a 20" Stihl 0.325 bar on it! in as new condition. I got a part number for the easy start housing only as 1141 080 1808, but haven't checked if it's available, price listed £82
  16. Paying 35 euro a gallon really has no bennefits other than to the seller.
  17. Its my eyesight that is the limiting factor with 1/4" chain!
  18. Yup....if we get a saw in with a 1/4" chain, we just replace and return the old one back to the customer with the saw if they want to have a go manually themselves. Like i posted earlier a pro grinding machine isnt suited great for sharpening 1/4" chain, and for us to manually sharpen one whilst the saw is in for a service isnt cost effective. I am referring to domestic users here...if it were a pro user we would ask them if they want a new chain fitted first.
  19. Pic comes up blank with a question mark on iPhone Les?
  20. Les, we worked for the Turner's, you are lucky to get the steam off their waste.....
  21. Look forward to that Les
  22. 281 or xp was a beautiful saw , cant knock it, as an early teen i had the chance to use that and some of the other 2 series Huskies, saw i never liked or struggled to handle was the 3120xp. With a long bar on it - like some of ther bigger Huskies were never balanced right
  23. Hey, yes did try but my coils made in sweden, and didnt look like that!😔
  24. Also depends on the log. A large diameter but short log will dry faster than a long small log as the wood dries much faster from the end grain than through the bark. This is also why you should cut into logs and split early, the wood will dry faster.
  25. You seemed perfectly happy with uncle Joe's dithering fingers on that nuclear Armageddon button. Or out very own kier/Corbyn, sat listening to Kremlin hold music as the ICBM makes it's merry way.
